Sew Your Own Knickers
Join Lucy at Just Sew Penrith, and delve into the world of sewing your own underwear!
This is a great taster workshop into learning the art of sewing your own knickers, from handling jersey fabric to working with lingerie elastics and lace trims. You also have the option for sewing up different style knickers, from low, mid or high leg AND different waist options. Plus it's a great scrap buster project too!
This workshop will cover;
- Measuring and picking out your correct size
- Working with and sewing with jersey fabrics
- Sewing with lingerie elastics/stretch lace trims
- Sewing enclosed gussets
Size range for the knickers is approximately a UK 6 through to UK 34 (Waist 24" - 53"). If you would like a break down of the sizings before booking, please contact us.
You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course, but not necessarily dressmaking experience.

What's provided

- Paper pattern and instruction booklet
- Extra Print out booklet of other key information and tips and tricks for sewing your knickers.
What you will need to bring with you
- 60cm (140cm wide) Main fabric
- Fabric suggestions: 4 Way Stretch light to medium weight jersey fabric; Cotton Jersey, Viscose Jersey.
- 25cm x 25cm Crotch lining fabric
- Fabric suggestions: Cotton Jersey or Bamboo Jersey (something with a natural fibre content)
- Narrow stretch lace x 20-40mm (3/4 -1 1/2in) wide AND/OR fold over elastic (FOE) x 15-20mm (5/8-3/4in) wide
- All purpose polyester thread to match your fabric, lace and/or FOE
- Stretch Sewing Machine Needle
- Sewing machine and sewing kit (don't forget your paper scissors!)
- If preferred, for an additional £5.00 you can hire one of our sewing machines. Please notify us before the workshop if you would like to hire a machine.
