Sew Your Own Luxury PJ's

This 8 week evening workshop, ran from Just Sew Penrith, is designed for those that are wanting to expand on their dressmaking skills and master lots of new skills, whilst sewing your own luxurious pyjamas. 

These PJ’s are designed for chic and stylish loungewear/sleepwear and have been thoughtfully designed with soft tailoring, whilst still maintaining ultimate comfort. Classic features include a notched collar, curved hem, breast pocket and three sleeve options. For the bottoms, pick between a straight long legged pant (with the extra choice of added cuffs) or a cuffed short.  

This workshop covers all the key features for sewing both the bottoms AND the shirt top, so you will master lots of new skills including:

• Picking out your pattern size and making any necessary adjustments
• How to sew and insert a notched collar
• How to sew and insert cuffs
• How to sew buttonholes
• How to insert sleeves
• How to sew a faux fly 
• How to sew slanted trouser pockets 
• How to sew piping cord
• How to sew a garment using French Seams 
• Plus lots of different sewing techniques! 

Size range for the PJ pattern is approximately a UK 6 through to UK 34 (Bust measurement 31" through to 60"). After booking I will send through a detailed sizing breakdown as the sizing band is split, so will need confirmation of which pattern size you will need for the workshop. 

You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course and also have had some experience of sewing up some dressmaking garments, though not necessarily shirts!

What's provided

• Sewing Craft Room environment at Just Sew, Penrith, CA11 7HJ
• Tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the workshop
• Paper pattern and instruction booklet 

What you will need to bring with you

• Up to 4.60m (150cm/60") fabric for your pyjamas
• The exact quantities will be provided on booking, as it will depend on what size you will be sewing. 
• Suggested fabrics: light to medium weight woven; cotton flannel, linen, quilting cottons, shirting, lawn, double gauze. 
• 5-6x 10mm-15mm buttons
• 1.80m 38mm wide elastic
• Matching Thread
• 0.90m Lightweight Fusible Interfacing
• Optional; Piping - 3.2m for the shirt AND/OR 1.80m for the bottoms. 
• Sewing Machine and Sewing Kit (don't forget your paper scissors!)
• If preferred, for an additional £5.00 you can hire one of our sewing machines. Please notify us before the workshop if you would like to hire a machine.
